At the Nooksack Animal Hospital we consider it very important to spay or neuter your pet. Ideal age is before her first heat, around 5-6 months BUT, it is never too late.
Spaying a female helps control overpopulation and also promotes good health as she grows older. Spaying decreases the risk of pyometra, mammary, and cervical cancer.
Neutering a male helps control overpopulation and also reduces the incidences of territorial marking, roaming, and fighting. Also neutering decreases the chances of testicular or prostate cancer.
